Not much to say here except I tried making some daigakuimo (Japanese sweet potato dish) the other day, based on Cooking With Dog. I absolutely love the adorable old Japanese woman and her pet poodle that hosts these instructive and cute videos! This recipe was pretty minimalist, requiring only sugar, oil, and dashes of soy sauce for flavoring. The success of the dish depended mostly on cooking time and heat control. Sprinkled the final product with some black sesame and serve! Mmmm, oishii~desu ne! Oh and another thing, it tastes even better if you briefly steam it the next day. It softens into something like mashed potatoes, only less runny and sweeter!
Can I also make this with an orange sweet potato?
I think those are the only ones available here.

I’m sure you can try, or use regular potato (add more sugar?) You can definitely experiment =] Oh, and you can buy Japanese sweet potatoes at any Chinese supermarket! I’m sure some bit American grocery stores might have some too!

I’ll try it with the orange one and see how I like it. Need them anyway for my soup 🙂
