The Waffle that Beat Bobby Flay

I finally got to go to Wafels & Dinges!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! And it made me sooo happyyyyyyyyyyy!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I definitely tracked down the truck online before my trip back to NYC this weekend because I’m still on a desperate quest to spend all the NYC Groupons I impulsively bought (kind of a bad idea because I’m living in Philly now…)

The guys working at the truck were amiable and sweet. Since it was my first time at the truck, they walked me through the menu and dinges (toppings). With my voucher I got a soft-n-fluffy liege wafel with raspberry-vanilla ice cream, Belgian chocolate, dulce de leche, and strawberries in a cute paper boat.

My Liege Wafel!

I sat on the front steps around the corner where some other fellow wafel-ers seemed to be gathering. And it was delicious. The raspberry vanilla went perfectly with the dark Belgian chocolate and strawberries. The dulce de leche added a lovely sweet, creamy touch to the sophistication of the chocolate. But what took it away was the warm fluffy wafeliness of the waffle! The crunch at the edges ingeniously prevented the ice cream from sogging up the wafel too quickly.

Mr. Wafel, get ready for your close-up!

I would love to come back again to try the brussels wafel, or even their savory bbq-pork wafel. Now if only someone could start a pancake truck…

I actually don’t love their waffles, I feel like they’re over-hyped beyond belief. Not saying they’re not good… just it feels… gimmicky?
